Dove of Fire

Dove of Fire: The Footsteps Of St. Columba

St. Columba, whose name means 'Dove', was an Irish prince, apostle, and a prolific monastic founder. Born less than five hundred years after Christ's crucifixion, his impact is still felt today. Scotland owes its foundation to his influence. In AD 563 he founded a monastery on the small Scottish Island of Iona. It became a spiritual powerhouse electrifying the expansion of Christ's kingdom north into pagan Pictish territory and east into Anglo-Saxon lands during the golden age of Celtic christianity. His story is complex, heroic, and flawed, but above all, that of one who possessed unquenchable fire! Reader, may your heart be set ablaze as you trace the path he trod.
